Gardening Hedges?

I live in FL and I see so many people with these round looking hedges and other cool shapes around their house.. what kind of hedges are these possibly? I heard there is like some sort of topiary where you design people and complex crap like that... NOT what i'm talking about. Basic hedges around the house border

Gardening Hedges?
Japanese Boxwood. It's easy to train and trim.
Reply:the green meat-ball bush?

yes privet, boxwood barberry etc... even yew can be trimmed to weird and unnatural shapes like meatballs and such. In FL you probably could do that to citrus trees too (Just be sure to paint the trunks white so they don't get sunburned). It's not the type of plant so much as the hedge shears being used a couple of times a year to keep the shape.

Good Luck
Reply:Privet grows fast and green, but needs to be trimmed twice a year to keep it neat.

Boxwood is slower growing, but needs less clipping.

Why not find a hedge you like the look of in your neighborhood and ask the home owners what it is? Gardeners love to talk about their plants.
Reply:I believe they are called privet hedges.
Reply:Boxwood is one plant that you can shape anyway you want
