IF i don`t get this project right i fail for the year?

You are to design and draw the landscape for the backyard of your new home. Also, you are to calculate the cost of sodding the backyard. Consider the following in your design and calculations:

1. Your backyard is rectangular with dimensions 60ft by 40ft.

2. There will be an in-ground pool, also rectangular in shape, with dimensions 20feet by 12 feet. You may place this pool anywhere in the yard, but local laws requires that it is at least 3 feet from the edge of the yard.

3. Also there is going to be a circular flower garden. This garden will be 6 feet in radius. Again, you may place this garden anywhere in the yard.

4. The sod should cover all of the yard except,of course the garden and pool areas. The sod costs $9.25 per square foot, and is only sold by the square foot(no fractional part of a square foot). You may need to round up to the nearest foot.

5. The wooden fence you plan to buy should stand around the perimeter of your yard and costs $30 per foot.

Just help me or explain it

here are some calculations to help you finalize your project:

The entire yard's area is 60x40 = 2400 ft2

The circular flower garden has area 36π ft2

The pool is 20 by 12 feet, which has an area of 240 ft2.

Therefore, you need to put sod on the entire yard less the areas of the pool and garden:

2400 - 36π - 240 = 2046.9 ft2

So you need to buy 2047 ft2 of sod = 2047 * 9.25 = $18,934.75

The perimeter of the 60x40 foot yard is 200 ft. So you will spend 200 ft.* $30 / foot = $6,000 on the wooden fence.
Reply:start with the fence....60+60+40+40= perimeter =200 feet

200x$30 per foot =$6000

Total square feet of the back yard is 60x40=2400sq ft

The pool is 20x12=240 sq feet..the flower bed is or

A=pie r squared or 3.14x36=113.04 square feet

simply add the size of the pool 240sq ft+plus the bed size 113.04=353.04

now subtract that from the total square feet of the yard

2400-353=2047 sq ft need sod.....so 2047x9.25=18934.75 add the fence cost of 6000= total cost of $24934.75

GL..don't fail
Reply:This is a question about areas and perimeters.

The area to sod is the whole area minus the pool and garden

60*40-(20*12)-pi*6^2 or 2046.9ft^2 or 2047 square feet of sod. Multiply this by the cost of the sod so 2047*9.25 or

$18934.80

The fence goes around the outside of the yard. So add the lengths of the sides together 60+60+40+40 or 200 ft

Multiply this by the cost of the fence 200*$30 or $6000

Add these together to get the cost of the project

$18934.80+$6000 gives a total of $24934.80

I would guess that the 3' around the edge is so that the pool does not take out any of the fence. Just draw a rectangel 60x40 with a fence around it. Then place the pool in it so that it is at least three feet from any edge. Then draw the circular garden wherever it will fit.
