Did god want Adam and Eve to eat the apple?

Ok so God creates the Garden of eden which includes Adam, Eve, Satan, and the Forbidden tree (Thats right God created satan and the tree). Then God tells Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree.

So God being all knowing, knew exactly what would happen before he created any of it. If he didn't want Eve to eat the apple why not just banish Satan from the Garden? Did he create Eve solely for the purpose of misleading Adam. Did God design her with just enough curiosity for her to listen to Satan and try the apple?

God doesn't make mistakes... he did it on purpose.

Did god want Adam and Eve to eat the apple?
No.
Reply:Yes, in that story called The Bible the main character called god did want that to happen. After all, that god is omnipotent. The one and only. The beginning, the end, the beginning-less and the endless. All knowing. All seeing. If that god didn't want that to happen or did not see it would in fact happen then he is not omnipotent and is, instead, impotent. Since that runs contradictory to the story line, then yes indeed, he wanted them to taste the apple. Otherwise, it would never have occurred.
Reply:Actually, Adam screwed it up by thinking too much. he asked himself exactly the same question you are posing here.

Adam's sin was trying to out-think G-d.

And for anyone who says the Snake was Lucifer and thus, "original sin was created..." BS.

HaSaTan was G-d's attorney general. He was instructed by G-d to put Adam %26amp; Eve to the test and it turned out...

They were not smarter than a 5th grader....
Reply:Well, I'll put my 2 cents in again :) I've already answered one like this but...there is freewill.. God put the tree there so that Adam and Eve would have a choice in worshiping Him. Why? If there was no choice, then their relationship with God would have been a forced one. God wants a relationship with us but what kind of relationship would it be if it was forced? Not much of one. So God wants you to Choose whether or not to worship Him and build a relationship with Him. Of course He wants Us to choose Him.
Reply:Its very simple. Adam and Eve were given instructions to follow. Other than that they had it pretty good, perfect place to live, no niosy neighbors, naked all the time. They made a bad decision, with their God given free will to make choices.
Reply:There is no possible way to naviagte out of the dogmatic mess that is Genesis with your logic intact. Anyone who claims to find Genesis logical is intentionally deceiving themselves.
Reply:Took the work of satan to deceive Eve-- but all it took to deceive Adam..(being a typical male) was a naked woman asking him to have a taste...-bringing about the Fall of Man................... enough said
Reply:Also before eating the apple Adam and Eve had no sense of right or wrong so how were they suppose to know it was bad for them to disobey god. he set eve up to fail and that's not fair.

The Bard~
Reply:God gave Adam and Eve free will to do as they wish. Being tempted by Satan and eating the fruit was Eve's decision. Was it God's intention? I cannot answer that.
Reply:(it was on purpose)... :)
Reply:what apple, where does it say apple?
Reply:Contrary to some, choices are not necessary between good and evil. For example, we can choose an orange or a pear, either one do not make the other evil or good.

God wants Adam and Eve to have free agency to choose.

So man can be agent unto himself. To experience learn and progress.

And a Savior, Jesus Christ, provided by God was to redeemed man from the fall.

16 And I, the Lord God, commanded the man, saying: Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat,

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, nevertheless, thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee; but, remember that I forbid it, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

(Pearl of Great Price | Moses 3:16 - 17)

19 And after Adam and Eve had partaken of the forbidden fruit they were driven out of the garden of Eden, to till the earth.

20 And they have brought forth children; yea, even the family of all the earth.

21 And the days of the children of men were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh; wherefore, their state became a state of probation, and their time was lengthened, according to the commandments which the Lord God gave unto the children of men. For he gave commandment that all men must repent; for he showed unto all men that they were lost, because of the transgression of their parents.

22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.

23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.

24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things.

25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given.

27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.

(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 2:19 - 27)
Reply:The only problem with your arguement is if you believe the myth--adam and eve were not sentient before eating of the tree--they didn't "know" they were naked for example. Not knowing the difference between "wrong" and "right" among other things distinguishes us from the lower animals. A dog may be trained into not do something--but it doesn't know it's wrong--simply that there will be a consequence for a behavior. This is another example of the xtian holybooks sadisitic depicition of a deity--if a neighbor of yours trains your dog to pee on the carpet--you don't beat the dog for doing so--you kick the neighbors butt. How could you blame a non-senstient being for doing wrong--you blame and punish the entity that "trained" them into doing the the thing you didn't want to do. Just another example of how the literal bible fails the philosophy test. You can't be partially sentient--you are either aware or not.
Reply:God does not condone sin in any way. Neither does He tempt anyone to do evil. In the Garden God placed the Tree of Life, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God created man, and He formed Eve from Adam's rib to be a helpmate, not a curse. God created the animals, including the serpent. God created all angels. God made the angels to be good, not evil in any way. He gave them a free will to follow God. Satan became possessed of his own beauty and knowledge, and decided to rebel against God. God did not make him evil. Also other angels decided to follow Satan in his rebellion. God cast Satan and his followers from heaven to earth. In the garden, Satan came and possessed a serpent to talk with Eve to tempt her. God also made man and woman to have the free will to choose God. Eve followed Satan's deception, and gave Adam the fruit to eat, which he did. By eating the fruit, they received full knowledge of what is good and what is evil. By choosing to disobey God and follow Satan, God banished them from the Garden, to earth where Satan seeks to devour those he can. God knew Satan, his demons, Adam and Eve would rebel. But God also provided a way for those who wished for all time to be part of God in Christ to be with Him forever. God does not force His creation to follow Him. He gives them a choice. God made all His creation to be good. But some elements of it chose evil. Eternity with God, or eternity with Satan and all those who reject God. That is everyone's choice. Choose wisely!
