Is it a good plan to install 4" big O with a sock at the bottom of a sloping garden to flat area 40' from hous

AT THE BASE OF THE HILL THE GARDEN IS FLAT AND ABOUT 30 FEET FROM THE HOUSE, WATER IS COMING INTO THE BASEMENT AROUND THE WALLS NOW. WOULD THIS DESIGN PICK UP THE SURFACE WATER AND GROUND WATER AND CHANNEL IT AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. BURY THE BIG O PIPE ABOUT 12" B.O.P. AND COVER WITH 3/4"GRAVEL AND THEN SOD.

Here are a couple of sites about French Drains. You may have to contact a Landscape Architect about the drainage. There may be liability issues for you if the redirected water goes to a neighbors yard or house.

Reply:without seeing it its hard to say, but it doesn't sound like it will cost too much, I'd try it.
