a. what is the diameter of one circle? explane jhow you find the diameter

b. suppose the designer of the fountain decides that the surface area of the water in the fountain should be 450 square feet. find the diameter of this fountain. explain how you find the diameter.

could you please help me out on this.

I need some help with my math homework =/?
a. Well, assuming that each of the I's are equal in length...

116/4=29

The diameter is 29 ft because the I's split the side of the square into 4 equal parts.

b. I need more info on this one. Is it 1 fountain or 4 fountains?
Reply:well i dont understand quit well the question but if you meen a square totaly filled by 4 circles like

.___

|OO|

|OO|

Than the diameter would be half of the lenght of 1 side of the square, so 62 feet. because you can see the botom of 1 circle joined with the top of the circle over it has the same lenght as the square, so you divide the lenght of the square by 2.

b. and if the fountain is the round thing, than the surface of a circle is a=Pir^2

so 450=3.14r^2

therefore r=radius=3.786feet

and d = 2*r so d = 7.571 feet
Reply:You picture does not give enough details to solve this
