At first , I thought It was a male european garden spider, but a couple things don't match up with that. One, it's leg segments are all one color, not mixed colors like a European Garden Spider. Two, The design on it's amdomen does not have any white dots that is characterisitic of the European Garden Spider. Three, I' cant see its eyes too well, but they look like like 2 rows of 4, a hobo's eyes. I wish i had a microsope to see a better image.
It seems aggressive too. I was laying on the floor playing with my dog and out of the corner of my eye I saw a spider running on the carpet heading right for me. I quickly ran and got a jar and captured it. It almost got away. The hobo spider is around in the PNW.

What do you think?
Is this a Hobo Spider ? (Tegenaria Agrestis)?
Ur right. It's the same spider. be careful with it, i dont like the name: agrestis, but the web site says that is not agressive, however be careful. in the same web site u gave is the description of the spidey.
Reply:Mat, you shouldn't kill off the hobo spider you had found. They are good pest control regardless of their size or how posionous they are. Report Abuse
Reply:Agrestis means 'of the fields' and has nothing to do with 'agressive' Report Abuse
