Reply:Years and years. It never ends, but is enjoyable none the same.
Reply:I don't know. I've never done anything like that but my grandma plants a bunch of things which take a bunch of months to grow. You're gonna need a lot of patience and time.
Reply:The best thing to do would be to prepare the garden this fall for sowing seeds (if your doing a veggie) in the spring. If you doing a flower garden I'd prepare the area (as you would for veggie later) by loosening the soil adding some compost, lime (if needed to reduce acidity of soil), peat, sand or rocks (if needed for drainage would need for veggie garden). Then let it go until ready for planting fall items (bulbs, winter annuals, etc.) and finish the rest in the spring (which is when start sowing veggie garden). Prep for the fall probably could be done in a few weeks total with design and hard labor. Once you dig the gardens you'll have to hoe the weeds you could also put down some pine needles or hay to discourage their growth. I'd highly suggest renting a small tiller (home depot or Lowe's in U.S.) to do the digging work and mixing for you. You can reduce that labor down to a day or two depending on how much you need to do. Several weeks of work over a few months time and thing will be done and ready to go for next spring. The later work is more maintenance than anything too. Keep at it, good luck and know you'll be enjoying the rewards of this work for years to come : )
