Hallo, I'm looking for a (reader's digest?) book about life in an english farm, on how to live self-sufficient
It sounds like The Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency, by John Seymour. It includes traditional skills associated with small-scale farming, including how to milk a cow, grind wheat, and hand crafts, such as basket-making and weaving.
See here:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Book-Se...
John Seymour has now written an updated version, called New Complete Self-sufficiency: The Classic Guide for Realists and Dreamers.

Reply:Could it be "Back to Basics?" The one I have is beige in color (1981) and is all about living self-sufficiently.
Here is a link to one listed on Amazon which looks to be a reissued version with a different cover.
Reply:I don't have the answer -but I may have a lead for you. John Seymour wrote a number of works covering self-sufficiency, and he was a Brit, so some research on him may turn over what you want. A list of his books is here, together with his bio and related info:

If you don't see the title listed there, then contact with the authors of the article may be fruitful.
Well, I see the sun's up, so it's time to get back to work on my little 2 acre Eden.
-Good luck!
